Description:
Juvenile Polypterus senegalus
The Senegal Bichir, Polypterus senegalus , is a 'primitive-looking' fish that are relatively active and have a lot of personality. As they grow they will require a fairly large aquarium and cannot be housed with fish that are small enough to be eaten as they are highly predatory by nature. Currently about 6 inches, when grown will double this size.
Currently eats anything which fits in his mouth but adores defrosted meaty foods such as prawn, cockle and also eats sinking pellet foods.
