Description: Chinese Fire Bellied Newt Sub - Tropical Freshwater
(Cynops orientalis)

Description: Fire-Bellied Newts are usually dark brown to black with red or orange undersides, hence the name Fire-Bellied. The Japanese Fire-Bellied Newt is larger than the Chinese Fire-Bellied Newt and they tend to have red speckled bellies. They have rough skin, while the Chinese Fire-bellied Newts have smooth skin and a speckled orange underside.. Males are generally larger than the females and slimmer looking relative to their length and develop a purplish sheen to their tails during the breeding season – though not many people seem to have much success breeding these handsome newts in captivity, at least not in the average domestic setting

Diet: Feed every 2 or 3 days ) Carnivorous - Scavenger and will eat a wide range of typical live foods, juveniles and small adults taking whiteworm, tubifex and the like, while larger specimens will also take more appropriately sized prey, such as slugs, earthworms and insect larvae from the garden.
Size: 6-10 cm Maximum with tail
Water Temperature: 17 to 21 is the best temapture (23c or more they get stressed)
