Description:
This Product is brand new to the pond building industry but has been used to build houses worldwide.
No more waiting for the bricklayer to turn up.
This Simple system clicks together and then concrete is poured in. The blocks stay in place and are rendered over on the outside. The inside can be either rendered and fibreglassed or can have a box welded liner inserted. The blocks are made of polystyrene and this gives excellent insulation keeping the heat in for the winter months and the heat out in the summer months. If you are intending to heat your pond you will be able to save on the heating costs.
Practical energy efficient construction to accommodate our future needs, Poly Block is designed to offer a range of design standards to suit all building applications.
This monolithic, insulated concrete system of building is quick to construct yet offers levels of performance significantly better than available from slower, more traditional approaches to building ponds.
An insulating concrete formwork (ICF) system, Poly Block is based on large hollow lightweight block components that lock together without intermediate bedding materials to provide a formwork system into which concrete is poured.
Once set, the concrete becomes a high strength structure and the formwork remains in place as thermal insulation, with u-values ranging from 0.30 w/m²k down to 0.11 w/m²k. The building process is quick, tidy and precise, with lower labour and equipment requirements than alternative methods.
Creative design (without compromising performance) is encouraged by the availability of a comprehensive range of components, which is further enhanced by the built-in option to incorporate reinforcement for extra strengh
Originally developed and patented in the 1970's, the system has been progressively improved and developed to satisfy the very best worldwide standards of energy efficiency, and the recognised need for improved building techniques.
Poly Block in the United Kingdom has an established track record of twenty years' performance and has a long life expectancy.
As a highly insulated structure, Poly Block may be clad internally and externally with a wide range of finishes, including plaster, masonry, curtain walling and render systems.

Some questions answered
• Speed
Polyblock is quick and easy to use, without the need for skilled tradesmen. In fact, any builder or practical self-builder can quickly erect a Polyblock structure, as the lightweight units are easier to handle than traditional materials. Typically, an experienced team can erect and concrete the walls of a pond in a day, significantly reducing the building time.
• Reduced labour
A low labour content and the reduced need for skilled tradesmen results in the more efficient use of increasingly scarce construction workers.
• Less downtime
The ability to continue building in wet or freezing conditions (the Polyblock also protects the fresh concrete), and the quick erection of the exterior walls makes year-round construction the norm.
• Immediate follow-on trades
With speedy construction of the watertight building envelope, the internal services and finishing’s can progress independently of the external cladding.
• Simple service installation
Pipework and utilities can be pre-installed within the Polyblock core, or easily chased into the Polyblock with a router or hot wire cutter.
• Less plant and equipment
Polyblock components are delivered as lightweight, portable packs, which do not require any mechanical handling. Hand tools are limited to normal basic items.
• Good housekeeping
Just-in-time deliveries and direct placement of ready-mixed concrete reduces waste and site storage requirements, resulting in an overall tidier site.
• Site safety
The very lightweight Polyblock components, requires minimum tools and equipment and a tidier working area reduce the risk of accidents on site.
• Cost savings
In addition to the cost savings listed above, the energy efficient buildings provide the opportunity to save on heating costs of a heated pond making the initial outlay more economical.
• Mortgage, insurance and planning acceptance
All mortgage lenders, insurance companies and planning authorities accept ICF construction thereby making it suitable for construction of indoor ponds.
• Is a special concrete required?
A simple designated pumpable RC 25 concrete with a slump of S2 or S3, with max 10 mm aggregate should be specified. Ask for concrete supplied under QSRMC or BSI quality assured schemes.
• How are the walls erected?
Polyblock components are delivered to site in packs or bags. They are light and easy to handle, and can be quickly cut with hot wire or hand saw as required. They interlock vertically and horizontally to form a continuous void that is filled with concrete.
• How is the concrete placed and does it need vibrating?
The pump grade concrete is placed into the formwork by means of a pump or skips and fills the system through gravity flow. The correct pump grade concrete will flow, fill and self-compact without the need for mechanical vibration, except in areas of reinforcement.
• How robust is the system?
Buildings made with Polyblock have been in use on the Continent, North America and Australasia for over
30 years with no record of failure.
