I have been keeping both reptiles and fish for a number of years and started making my own 3D aquarium backgrounds for approx 4 years ago when I couldn't find anything for sale
that I was happy with . I found that they were all to repetitive for my taste and didn't have the uniqueness I wanted!
That's why all the backgrounds built by Custom Backgrounds are hand made and are 100% original, so no one else in the world will have a background in their tank the same as yours.
I truly believe the sky is the limit when trying to create the perfect backdrop for your little section of paradise, whether thats a dusty desert for your bearded dragon or your own miniature ocean.
As mentioned above each background is hand crafted to fit the individual tank so there's no need to be cutting out panels to fit your tank from 5ft sheets when you get it home.
The backgrounds are shaped using polystyrene thats then coated with multiple layers of a animal/aquarium friendly concrete based product, the coatings are another thing that separate these backgrounds apart from the panels you can pick up on ebay or in some local fish shops. Unlike the other panels, the outer coating applied to our backgrounds is completely solid to the touch making it a much stronger product allowing it to take more of a battering from your fish or reptile with out bits starting to break away.
With each background being original it means we can focus on what you want, for example if you have a lizard that requires a basking ledge we can build one into the background, or a pair of breeding fish that keep having the eggs eaten we can include a spawning cave, or if you just want something to make your friends go WOW why not build in a water fall!
