I got this tank second hand a few months ago, its an awesome tank, its an Ehiem octagonal tank and has a huge viewing screen to it, 8 sides so you can have a visible scape from all sides. it is drilled with two 1 inch holes in the centre so it can be fitted with a small custom sump inside the stand. (Sump not included.) We believe its around 55G but its tricky to figure out exactly as its an octagon shape!!!!
The pictures above show it as i got it, i have since removed the old standpipes. I have bought new 1 inch tank connectors (bulk heads) ,made a durso and have 1 inch pipework ready for the return etc.. I intended on having a central weir with the pipework hidden inside then building up the rockwork/corals around the weir...
.... but i have recently found out some news that changes my priorities and this tank has to go.
This tank was previously used as a reef tank so has never had any non reef safe meds including copper used in it. It has encrusted corraline round the base on the inside that needs scaping off, but thats no biggy..
The tank is open topped with a rim perfect for halides or a luminaire....
Alternatively the holes could be blocked up and it could be easily used as a freshwater tank...
One last thing.. the cabinet does needs work. I intended to re-cover the black in wood laminate flooring, which i've done on tanks before and works very well... but you could always paint it, or if you know a carpenter have a new cabinet made for it... after all the tank is so cheap, you may be able to afford a new cabinet for it! :-)
It is about 24 inches high, (tank base to the top of lid) and 24 inches across... but clearly in an octagon shape... including the stand it is 51 inches high.
THIS IS A GREAT, UNUSUAL TANK, AND A GREAT VOLUME FOR AN OCTAGON TANK. IT WOULD MAKE AN AMAZING CENTRE PIECE IN ANY HOUSE.
