I purchased 4 of these fish at around 1.5", around a year and a half ago, and they are now all roughly 6+". I have tried to get decent photos of them under different lighting conditions. They are currently being kept in a 5ft tank (450litres), and filtered by an Eheim Pro 1200XL. My tap water is incredibly soft, and therefore the pH crashes within a matter of days following a water change. To combat this, I use oyster shell in the filter to ensure a stable kH and, thus: a stable pH. Filter bacteria will be far less efficient at anything below pH7, and good filtration is essential to keeping these fish happy and looking at their best. They have generally taken well to most foods through a variety of flakes, pellets, frozen, fresh, and live foods. They are currently living at a fellow aquarist's house in Carmarthen, and can be viewed/picked up from there. I am looking for £400 for the group. It seems as though there may be two males, and two females, with a possible pair forming. Experienced cichlid owners only please. Geraint.
