Hi everyone.
A special Hello to all those kind and generous aquarists in the Derby (& Notts & Leics) area - you know who you are !!
For several years I've been looking after an aquarium in the community lounge of a warden controlled block of flats that houses the old and infirm, including my mother-in-law. Money to keep it stocked and functioning well has always been in short supply and it has survived to some degree on surplus fish and plants and equipment from a variety of sources.
I now have ANOTHER CHALLENGE !
My own mother, who has Alzheimer's, has just moved into a nursing home. They have a 4 foot tank with undergravel filter and a hood with a light but little else. In fact it's EMPTY !!
Not had fish in it for 2 YEARS !!!
So, I'm looking for anything surplus to requirements than anyone has that will help me bring this aquarium back into existance. On the equipment side I specifically need an air pump and a heater, although a powerhead and/or a fluval type internal filter would be great.
As for flora & fauna ?
I'd like it to be a general tropical community tank so any suitable fish ( Guppies, Mollies, Platys, Swords etc... you all know what I mean & need) would be most gratefully accepted. As would any surplus plants to achieve a balanced and healthy environment that also looks the part.
So can anyone help ?
I can collect if relatively local to Derby.
